Boone man arrested on sexual exploitation, enticing a minor charges

AMES, Iowa — A sting operation helped lead to the arrest of a Boone man who police say planned to meet up with a 13-year-old for sex.

Nigel Baker, 29, is now charged with enticing a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. He’s being held in the Story County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

Criminal complaints filed in the case say Baker was arrested on Tuesday at the Super 8 hotel at 1418 S Dayton Place in Ames. Officers with the Ames Police Department took him into custody after being notified by an organization that catches sexual predators online.

The organization had been acting as the 13-year-old decoy who Baker had been communicating with for weeks online. The criminal complaint said Baker admitted to police he shared explicit photos and messages and arranged to meet for sex with someone he thought was 13 years old.

A preliminary hearing for Baker is scheduled for August 19th.
