Organizational context

ECPAT International is a global network of organisations working together to eliminate child sexual exploitation in all its forms, namely the exploitation of children in prostitution, online child sexual exploitation, the sale and trafficking of children for sexual purposes, the sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism and certain forms of child, early and forced marriage. The ECPAT network currently consists of 126 members working at national and local levels in 105 countries.

ECPAT COUNTRY OVERVIEWS

Since its founding over 30 years ago, ECPAT International has worked to mobilize global attention and action against child sexual exploitation, including by continuously monitoring the situation at local, regional and global levels in terms of the implementation of actions to protect children. Today, in addition to submitting alternative reports and presenting thematic submissions to human rights mechanisms such as the Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Human Rights Council, we also produce annual Country Overviews – reports on the scale, scope and context of child sexual exploitation in a specific country.

ECPAT Country Overviews are a secondary research project that comprehensively summarizes and concisely presents all existing publicly available information and a detailed analysis of the legal framework for child sexual exploitation in a country. They provide an assessment of achievements and challenges in implementation, countermeasures to eliminate this crime and suggest concrete priority actions to advance the national fight against child sexual exploitation.
