Maybe it’s just a normal part of reaching old age, but I’m often surprised at how much has changed in my life. I’ve often said that the past is a strange country, but it doesn’t seem that long ago that it was normal. You see this with things that used to be called vices. Gambling, pornography, drugs, and prostitution used to be things to avoid, but now they’re celebrated lifestyles.

This occurred to me when I watched a clip from one of the gangster shows where the directors were discussing their income streams. Virtually every way the old gangsters made money has now been taken over by the state or by corporations that are friends of the state. The downfall of the Mafia is due in large part to the fact that they are being exploited by the government and their corporate friends.

That’s this week’s show. As a break from politics I thought it would be fun to look at the different ways the old mafiosi made money and see who controls those rackets these days. The only racket that isn’t run by the government or corporations is prostitution, but that’s debatable. Things like OnlyFans are a tiny step away from prostitution. How long until they take the next step?
