When it airs and everything else we know

Here’s everything we know about Tulsa King season 2, from the release date to the cast and more!

Tulsa King

What do we know about the upcoming second season of the Paramount+ series? Tulsa King? More than you might think. The Taylor Sheridan series is one of the most successful projects of the Yellowstone creator that doesn’t feature the Dutton Family. With a second season getting the green light almost as quickly as the first episode, everyone has been wondering what will come of the show’s second run. So let’s dive in and see what Sylvester Stallone and his crime crew have coming up with this year.

Who’s pulling the strings (literally)?

The first season of Tulsa King was directed by Terence Winter, best known as the creator of Promenade Empire and a lead writer and executive producer on The SopranosHe wrote the script for The Wolf of Wall Street and developed Tulsa King alongside Taylor Sheridan prior to this season. Winter was demoted due to what the media called creative differences. Winter eventually left a direct writing role on the series, but remains on board as an executive producer. Details eventually emerged that Sheridan fired Winter because Sheridan prefers “character-driven plots” while Winter likes “plot-driven characters.” This was in 2023, and in February 2024, Winter was rehired as a writer when the Writer’s Guild strike freed up a slot in his schedule. Winter’s writing duties fall outside of Sheridan’s direct supervision. That sounds like a productive work environment. While he did not use a conventional showrunner for the second season, Sheridan did select Craig Zisk to oversee the day-to-day running of the show.

Who is it about?

We come from Bosque Ranch Productions, Cold Front Productions, Balboa Productions and MTV Entertainment Studios, Tulsa King tells the story of Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a mob boss who is released from prison at the beginning of the story and begins building a criminal organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while trying to repair his relationship with his estranged daughter Tina (Tatiana Zappardino).

The first season of Tulsa King ended with Dwight’s crew taking down a rival biker gang led by Waltrip (Ritchie Coster), followed by ATF agent Stacy (Andrea Savage) having Dwight arrested despite also being his love interest. Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi), the new boss of the Invernizzi family, plots revenge on Dwight. The biggest questions heading into season two will be whether or not Dwight and Stacy are still a couple and how Chickie will enact his revenge on Dwight.

Production moves from Oklahoma to Atlanta

After the crew complained about the conditions during filming in Oklahoma, Tulsa King Season 2 production is moving to Atlanta. While filming will no longer take place on the location where the story is set, the increased flexibility of studio resources in Atlanta will provide more opportunities for the crew to expand their production values and integrate more acting talent into the series.

Who is directing this season?

The second season hasn’t revealed much in terms of logistics beyond Craig Zisk helming the show, but it’s entirely possible he’ll direct at least a few episodes. Season one directors are likely to return, including Lodge Kerrigan, Guy Ferland, Ben Semanoff, and Allen Coulter. Given that Taylor Sheridan has taken more of a producer role on his projects in recent years, it’s questionable whether he’ll direct episodes of King of Tulsa.

Who’s joining the cast?

Most of the first season’s main cast returns, including Andrea Savage as Stacy Beale, Jay Will as Tyson, Martin Starr as Bodhi, Max Casella as Armand Truisi, Dana Delaney as Margaret and Domenick Lombardozzi as Chickie Ivernizzi. Annabella Sciorra and Tatiana Zappardino were promoted to series regulars for season two, while Frank Grillo is the biggest new addition to the cast. Grillo plays Bill Bevilaqua, a Kansas City mobster and co-star of Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi.
