Nashville man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Hundreds of files of child sexual abuse material were found on the Google account of a Nashville man, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Eswar Rao Akula, 25, was arrested Thursday.

According to the arrest report, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received four cyber tips in June that the same Google account with the name “Eswar Rao” and a Davidson County phone number possessed more than 100 files of child sexual abuse material.

The arrest report states that Google provided a Comcast Cable IP address that was used to either log into or upload the material to the account. Comcast responded to a subpoena and stated that all of the IP addresses were assigned to Akula, according to the affidavit. A search warrant was then sent to Google for the full content of the account.

Investigators said more than 200 child sexual abuse material files were found as well as images of Akula. The arrest report states that data from many of the images included GPS information that showed the images were taken either at or near Akula’s Nashville residence.

Akula is charged with Felony sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
