Centre should run special campaign for child beggars: BJP MP

Jaipur, Aug 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madan Rathore, president of the Rajasthan BJP and member of the Rajya Sabha, on Friday said that the central government should conduct a special campaign for child beggars and demanded their proper rehabilitation.

“The central government should take out a special campaign and provide all facilities, including rehabilitation, for the future of these innocent children,” the BJP MP told Rajya Sabha.

He also demanded that the central government undertake a nationwide campaign to identify child beggars and conduct a census.

“Special rehabilitation programmes should be undertaken for innocent children and they should be encouraged to get education. Employment and self-employment opportunities in the area of ​​skill development should also be sought for children and other beggars. Initiatives should also be taken to create awareness to put an end to illegal, evil practices like begging in our society,” the MP said.

He said that at most intersections in the country, small children are kidnapped by organized gangs and their organs are sold, and at a young age they are then driven into the alms trade.

“Women also beg at intersections with their malnourished children, in the name of their education,” the MP said.

He added that there is a need for a mechanism for interdepartmental and interministerial coordination. Moreover, criminal gangs in the country are begging on a large scale.

“Women can be seen begging with small and innocent children at religious pilgrimage sites, but also at tourist spots and main markets. On one hand, the image of the country is tarnished, while on the other hand, an organised gang is kidnapping and committing acts such as child exploitation,” he said.

He added that innocent children are forced to beg by making them addicted to drugs. “By taking advantage of kindness, sympathy and human feelings, these people run the illegal business of begging and exploiting children,” he said.
