Michael Imperioli Is ‘Jealous’ He’s Not in ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 (Exclusive)

Michael Imperioli will not be checking in The White Lotus season 3, but he will definitely watch.

While I promote American Godfathers: The Five Familiesof which he was the narrator and executive producer, Imperioli, 58, tells PEOPLE about the upcoming season of HBO’s dark comedy series and whether he’ll be watching.

“I will definitely tune in,” said the Sopranos the star says of Season 3, which is set to premiere in 2025. “I was obviously very jealous that I wasn’t in it because it was such a magical time to do that show, it was so fun and rich.”

Imperioli played the lead role in the second season of The White Lotus as Dominic Di Grasso, a Hollywood producer who travels to Italy with his son and father. He was nominated at the 2023 Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his performance.

Imperioli also praises the series’ creator, Mike White.

“Mike White is just a gem of a human being and a genius of a talent, you know, and that was idyllic, that whole experience,” he says. “So I hope that this cast, I’m sure they’ve experienced the same thing.”

The White Lotus The Season 3 cast is expected to include Natasha Rothwell, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, and Parker Posey. Imperioli is especially looking forward to seeing Parker Posey.

“You know, one of my favorite performers is Parker Posey in the new season, who I just think is amazing,” he says. “It makes sense to have her in The White Lotus. I can see that.”

As fans wait for more White Lotusthey can catch Imperioli telling American Godfathers: The Five FamiliesThe docuseries, based on the book The five families by Selwyn Raab, is an in-depth dive into the history of the Mafia, stretching back to its Sicilian roots in the 19th century to the present day.

Imperioli says the early days of the Mafia have “always fascinated” him.

“It was the Italians here (who) were still very close to the immigrant experience and it was always really interesting to see how that developed from that experience,” he explains. “The transition between coming here, you know, newly arrived people and getting a foothold in lots of different areas of business and things like that.”

The Emmy-winning actor also notes that the documentary highlights how Prohibition and bootlegging were the first major ways the Mafia made money in America. “Prohibition gave them the landscape to create the empires they did,” he says.

American Godfathers: The Five Families begins with a three-day event from August 11-13 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The History Channel.
