Months before his comeback, Shawn Mendes’ fans angrily defended him against a crazy rumor that he had joined a “cult” that another Grammy legend was reportedly part of

Popular Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes recently announced his return after taking a break from the industry to focus on his well-being. But a few months ago, strange controversies arose surrounding the singer, and it was all because of one rumor.

A gossip podcast speculated about Mendes’ ties to a new spiritual group or “cult,” based on unsubstantiated theories. Shockingly, another famous singer was previously suspected of participating in the same cult. However, loyal fans of the singer defended him and stood up against the unsubstantiated rumors.

Rumor mill in full swing: fans come to the rescue

It all started with a whisper, a podcast with a gossip girl TwoMewho reportedly received tips from “fans” about Shawn Mendes’ association with a cult. The organization in question is the Modern Mystery School, which claims to be a spiritual group that provides services to the public.

The flames were fanned when people began associating Charlie Travers, the singers’ alleged new girlfriend, with being part of the cult. Things got even worse when a video was posted of her and Mendes doing a breathing exercise on the beach.

Fans have noticed that Shawn Mendes has been hanging out with people who are part of the Modern Mystery School. One of those people is his new alleged girlfriend, Charlie

But it should be noted that the singer has said nothing about this and has not even publicly named Travers as his partner. His fans apparently took heart from his lack of reaction and came to his aid and defended the alleged cult allegations.

So we are supposed to believe your bullshit sources that say Shawn Mendes is in a cult? People hate Shawn Mendes daily for no good reason and you are just fueling the fire and spreading negativity.

The Mendes Army then revolted against the podcaster, claiming that their source was fake. The singer had taken a break for his own well-being and was also absent from social media. Unfortunately, people misinterpreted this absence as a sign that he had joined a cult.

The Possible Truth Behind the Lies: Which Cult?

Formerly the 2024 Grammy-winning singer, Miley Cyrus was also accused of joining the spiritual organization. This rumor started when a photo began circulating on X, showing Cyrus with two women, “Lily Ashwell” and “Blue.” People started spreading rumors that these women were members of the Modern Mystery School and that they were trying to recruit the singer to join them.

Although she herself did not comment on these rumors, her sister Brandi Cyrus denied them on behalf of the singer. She assured fans that the Flowers The singer was busy with her music and had no time to join an institution.

And she doesn’t do those things, so people say crazy things.

Apparently, in 2021, Vice did an investigation into the mystery school and published an article with complaints from former students, who called it a “scam” and a “cult.” It detailed how they were exploited, faced bullying and manipulation, and some even accused the organization of financial and sexual exploitation. Shame It was also learned that students were made to sign a confidentiality agreement, forcing them to speak positively about the school and its members.

So while the “school” sounds shady on the surface, there’s no confirmation that Mendes or Cyrus were ever actually members. Since both singers have remained silent and not shared their side of the story, this could just be an unsubstantiated rumor.
