Point-and-click mystery game The Darkside Detective is out now, along with its sequel A Fumble in the Dark

Akupara Games has been dropping a lot of games lately. We talked about their recent release of Zoeti, a deck builder and now it’s The Darkside Detective, a puzzle game. By the way, they also dropped the sequel The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (yes, both games at the same time!).

What does the scene look like in Darkside Detective?

The game begins on a gloomy, foggy night in the town of Twin Lakes. It’s a town where the strange, the spooky, and the downright absurd are just part of the daily grind. The main characters are Detective Francis McQueen and his partner, the always likable but occasionally clueless Officer Patrick Dooley.

Together they form the Darkside Division, the criminally underfunded branch of the Twin Lakes Police Department. You solve nine small cases with them as you delve into the hilarious and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty sequel, A Fumble in the Dark.

In these point-and-click adventures, you’ll tackle everything from time-traveling riddles and flesh-hungry tentacles to unraveling the secrets of a carnival and mafia zombies. Check out the trailer for The Darkside Detective below to see for yourself!

Are you going to try out the games?

The game is an ode to pop culture, with references to classic horror movies, sci-fi series or buddy cop movies. The stores have quite interesting names, such as Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard and Baits Motel.

One of the best things about the game is how it manages to cram so much humor into every pixelated corner. If you want to give The Darkside Detective a try, you can pick it up on the Google Play Store for $6.99. You can also try A Fumble in the Dark without trying the prequel, so check that out on Google Play as well.
