Police are looking for a man accused of multiple sex crimes, who they say is likely to reoffend after violating the terms of his release.

York Regional Police have issued an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Shubham Sahota after he fled his bail bondsman’s home in Vaughan, Ontario, where he was reportedly staying while he awaited trial.

According to a bulletin released by police, Sahota is facing multiple charges of sexual acts. In April, she allegedly lured a 12-year-old victim and performed sexual acts on her.

Sahota was charged in June 2024 with “multiple sex crimes,” including interference, luring a child, soliciting and arranging for a sex crime against a child, and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

“On July 28, 2024, investigators learned that Sahota had not been seen since July 20, and they have been unable to locate him,” the police report said. “They are concerned that he may reoffend.”

The report reveals that the 20-year-old posed as a 16-year-old and began contacting the 12-year-old victim through social media.

“On May 7, 2024, the suspect sent a taxi to pick up the victim and take him to his home, where they engaged in sexual acts,” police said.

YRP emailed True North to say they would not be providing any further information about the case or the man “to protect the identity of the victim” and that they would not be commenting on the man’s release as the court had determined his circumstances.

In previous reports, police said they were concerned that there were more victims and that anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts should call police.

Conservative Public Safety critic Frank Caputo says Trudeau’s easily accessible bail program is the reason dangerous child abusers like Sahota are allegedly being released to potentially harm more children.

“It’s no surprise that under Trudeau, a dangerous child molester has been released back onto the streets and suddenly disappeared,” Caputo told True North. “Justin Trudeau’s disastrous soft-on-crime policies and easy bail have unleashed a crime wave across Canada. He has allowed easy bail for repeat offenders and put the rights of dangerous criminals above our communities.”

He noted that sexual assaults have “exploded” by 75% under the Liberal government and that child sexual exploitation has increased by 52% by 2023.

“That wasn’t the case before Trudeau, but his insane policies, like Bill C-5 and Bill C-75, have given dangerous, violent offenders access to easy bail, eliminated mandatory prison sentences for violent crimes, and allowed dangerous, violent offenders to return to our communities to serve their sentences at home.”

The prime minister’s office did not respond to True North’s request for comment.
