The Governor recognizes the work of the Navy in various parts of the entity

Mexico must continue to take strong action against the arms trade from the United States, because “they provide the weapons and we provide the dead,” Governor Mauricio Kuri González exclaimed about the operation carried out by the Navy in Querétaro.

Last Wednesday morning, the Historic Center of the capital of Queretaro and six other points of Queretaro experienced an image never seen before, with the presence of elements of the Secretariat of the Navy in the state, who led an operation that led to the dismantling of a criminal cell that was smuggling weapons from the United States and Canada, and which was operating in different parts of the country.

In this regard, the state governor acknowledged that the issue of security is something that must be addressed every day and that it will “always be worrying” to find criminal gangs like this in Queretaro. However, he assured that the state continues to maintain the level of security and stressed that they have been captured by the Semar.

“To reassure (the people of Queretaro) that we have a good police force in Queretaro, that we are acting and that Queretaro continues to have a good level of security,” said Kuri Gonzalez.

He indicated that it is a federal matter and that it is up to the authorities in charge of the operation to make the results public. However, he acknowledged the work of said authorities, who discovered and dismantled the criminal cell.

“These are federal crimes, they are doing their job and we only help them when they ask for our support. The important thing is that (the gang) was caught by the Navy and that is good news. I believe the good news is that this gang was discovered and attacked and the federal government acted accordingly,” the governor said.

Mauricio Kuri recalled that in 2021, then-Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard filed a lawsuit against a dozen U.S. companies that produce weapons that arrive in Mexico and are used by criminals and drug traffickers to cause violence in the country. The governor of Querétaro described a strategy as good.

“When Marcelo Ebrard sued the American arms companies, I think it was a good decision. There needs to be much more pressure, because they literally supply the weapons and we supply the deaths. So it is very important that this issue continues to be raised and that Mexico continues to respond strongly to this,” he stressed.
