JUST IN: Kamala Harris campaign ad praises tough border stance

Vice-Chairman Kamala Harris’s campaign released a new ad on Monday touting her record on the border, an issue seen by many as one of her weakest.

In the ad, a narrator outlined her record as a prosecutor for a “border state” and her support for the border bill that was defeated at the behest of the former president. Donald Trump:

Kamala Harris has spent decades fighting violent crime. As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling guns and drugs across the border. As vice president, she sponsored the toughest border enforcement law in decades. And as president, she will hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking. Fixing the border is hard. And so is Kamala Harris.

The issue of immigration was a key part of Harris’ role as president Joe Bidens second in command. Under their watch, illegal border crossings soared to record levels. While she has never been officially named the administration’s “Border Czar,” political opponents have pointed to Biden giving her a leading role in addressing root causes and Harris’ work on illegal immigration as evidence of her failure to reduce the influx of migrants.
