‘Scarface’ actor Angel Salazar dies at age 68

Actor and comedian Angel Salazarbest known for roles in the films Scar face And Carlito’s way beside Al Pacinodied at the age of 68, Ann Wingsonga representative and close friend of the actor, confirmed TMZ Sunday evening (August 11)

Wingsong said Salazar “passed away in his sleep” at a friend’s house in Brooklyn “this past weekend.” Salazar’s cause of death was not released, but Wingsong acknowledged the actor had a history of heart problems.

Salazar got the breakthrough role of Chi-Chia sidekick character of Pacinos’s Tony Montanain the cult classic Scar face early in his acting career. The actor also appeared in the films Where the buffalo roam, A stranger watches, The Wild Life, Sylvester, Clashline And Carlito’s waywhich also starred Pacino, as well as guest appearances on the television shows On Ourselves, The new $treetz series, Jersey Mafia Chronicles And In Living Color.

Salazar also worked as a stand-up comedian, appeared in several HBO comedy specials and landed a role in the NBC series Last comic that remains standingThe 68-year-old’s final performance took place August 1-4 at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino in Las Vegas in Reno.

“Rest in peace Angel Salazar ‘Chi Chi’, you were a great actor and good friend Hermano,” musician Tito Puente Jr. wrote in an Instagram post honoring the actor and comedian. “From Scarface to Carlito’s Way, your characters and comedy will be forever missed.”
