Donald Trump attacked Kamala Harris for promising to improve border security and blaming Republican lawmakers for the failure of a bipartisan immigration bill.

The vice president has pledged to sign similar legislation if elected to succeed President Joe Biden. She has also touted her own record as California’s attorney general, saying she has prosecuted “transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers,” but Trump has lashed out on social media.

“Kamala Harris just said after 10 years of weak talk and 3 1/2 years of REALLY WEAK ACTIONS that she wants to get tough on the border,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Well why hasn’t she, it’s almost four years too late. All she talks, NO ACTION! Our country is being completely wiped out by her, our great ‘Border Czar’, who is allowing millions of people to pour in, totally unchecked and uncontrolled, including large numbers of terrorists and many more from prisons and mental institutions.”

An estimated 4.2 million people have entered the country illegally since Biden took office, according to federal data. Republicans, however, say the number is closer to 8 million. Migration experts also say there is no evidence of large-scale immigration of criminals or mentally ill people to the U.S.

“Because of her we have become a DUMPING COUNTRYSIDE FOR THE WORLD,” the ex-president said. “KAMALA MADE IT, I WILL FIX IT!”

Harris reminded voters that leading Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, acknowledge that Trump’s opposition to the border deal thwarted his campaign on the issue in hopes of denying Biden a political victory.

“Donald Trump doesn’t want to solve this problem,” Harris said at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, over the weekend. “He talks big — about a lot of things — but he talks big about border security. And he doesn’t do it.”
