Government sets aside secret fund of Rs 100 million for informants

KARACHI:

The Sindh government has for the first time in history approved a secret fund of Rs 100 million for an information network at the request of the Department of Excise and Narcotics Control.

The excise department had sent a summary to the Sindh chief minister on June 20. The CM gave his approval and directed the department to submit the summary to the cabinet, which approved a secret fund of Rs 100 million for the department for the current fiscal year.

The Excise Department informed the Council of Ministers during the meeting that the department is making efforts to eradicate the drug problem.

The police and anti-corruption services also received secret funds.

Arrests will be made after receiving confidential information, which will help eradicate the drug mafia. Narcotics Control Wing is headed by Director General Usman Ghani.
