California sheriff speaks out after his image appears in Harris campaign ad

Vice President Kamala Harris released a new ad Friday highlighting what she would do if elected president. A California sheriff wasn’t exactly thrilled to see herself in the ad, while promoting her stance on border security.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux wanted to make his position on Harris clear.

“In light of a recent political ad by Kamala Harris featuring Sheriff Boudreaux and other local law enforcement officials, the Sheriff wants to make it clear that his likeness is being used without his permission and that he is NOT endorsing Harris for president or any other political office,” he said.

Boudreaux has been with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for 37 years and is president of the California State Sheriff’s Association.

He described Harris’s 2013 visit to the Central Valley, where the campaign ad’s video clip came from. He couldn’t remember why she was there, but he did remember her behavior. Harris was California’s attorney general at the time.

“I want to point out, by the way, the misleading information projected in that same political ad. In the ad, Harris claims he spent decades fighting violent crime as a ‘border state prosecutor.’ The facts are that ‘then California Attorney General Kamala’ came to the Valley in 2014 with a years-long investigation into a multinational drug operation with ties to Mexican drug cartels and prison gangs,” Boudreaux said.

In the case he referred to, 11 people were arrested. One of them turned out to be the suspected “kingpin” Jose Magana of Dinuba.

Boudreaux also stated that Harris “never cared about the cartels” and insisted she did “nothing” to prevent people from crossing the border illegally.

To throw her under the bus even further, the sheriff said Harris’ appearance at the border was just “smoke and mirrors,” and pointed out that she was in and out, which did not sit well with Boudreaux.

“We were in the green room. She never came in and said hello to any of us. She walked up, gave her press conference, literally walked away and never said hello to any of us,” he said. “I’m disgusted because, you know, she didn’t shake hands. She didn’t say hello. And she took credit for all the work that the locals did.”

Boudreaux wasn’t alone in his criticism. Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward also responded to the video, which also featured him.

“The hypocrisy knows no bounds,” he told the outlet. “It’s dishonest and her campaign ad, which now somehow touts her record as a prosecutor as something positive, was attorney general under three of the worst tragedies that have befallen the citizens of the state of California.”

Golden State Justice, Boudreaux’s political action committee, also released a statement criticizing Harris’ ad. The committee said Harris was obstructing California law enforcement’s efforts to prevent “criminals” from crossing the border, bringing guns and drugs with them.

“She has repeatedly dismantled and shut down task forces meant to protect our residents, leaving the Valley and our state vulnerable,” the statement said. “Kamala’s dismal attempt to portray herself as a tough guy on the border by implying that I support her — and the support of neighboring law enforcement leaders — is pathetic.”
