Kari Lake and Trump get support from Doug Ducey, the ‘doormat’

Kari Lake called then-Arizona Governor Doug Ducey a “doormat” in 2022. It turns out she was right, because he supported her and Donald Trump.

play

Former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has not only endorsed Donald Trump, who criticized him for certifying the state’s 2020 elections, but also Kari Lake.

He supports Lake, who once called him a “doormat” for the Mexican drug cartels.

“I will be voting for all Republicans in November, and both Donald Trump and Kari Lake have my support,” Ducey said.

I think he really is a doormat.

Lake says nice things about Ducey…now

Lake was excited about Ducey’s endorsement, hoping it would help her retain the famous linchpin in the hearts of Republicans McCain touched during her 2022 campaign for governor.

“For eight years, Governor Doug Ducey has transformed our economy and our education system, making Arizona a destination again,” she said Tuesday.

That’s astonishing work for a governor she used to call an “establishment bungler.”

Ducey’s endorsement comes just over a week after Lake was endorsed by her 2022 gubernatorial opponent, Karrin Taylor Robson.

Or, as Taylor Robson is called in Lakeland, a gold-digger, con man and “Open Borders, Globalist RINO” who actually hates America but loves “trans bathrooms.”

Now the “Open-borders, Globalist RINO” is joining the “cartel doormat” in urging voters to nominate Kari Lake as United States Senator.

There appears to be a lack of dignity among the few traditional Republicans in Arizona who are still members of Trump’s party.

Ducey rejected Lake in 2022. What has changed?

Funny, it was just two years ago, during the campaign to succeed Ducey as governor, that Taylor called Robson Lake “a complete fraud on every important issue” and Ducey went on CNN to call her a charlatan who was pushing Ultra MAGA positions that were at odds with her decades-long past actions and statements.

“Kari Lake is misleading voters without any evidence,” Ducey said of her claim that the 2020 election was stolen.

“This is all a show,” he said. “She’s been putting on a show for a while and we’ll see if the voters of Arizona believe it.”

Why Arizona Democrats: Must register as a Republican

Now he’s asking Arizona voters to buy it. (Just as he asked voters to buy it less than a month after that CNN interview, after Lake won the Republican primary.)

Compare that to Mesa Mayor John Giles, a Republican who supported both Kamala Harris and Lake’s Democratic opponent, Ruben Gallego.

“You don’t owe anything to a party that’s out of touch with us and determined to take our country backwards,” he said at the Phoenix rally for Harris last week. “And you don’t owe any displaced loyalty whatsoever to a candidate who is morally and ethically bankrupt.”

I think the former governor is really a ‘doormat’

Unless you’re Ducey.

His endorsements of Trump and Lake remind me of the time when, as governor, he promised to combat the dangers of anti-Semitism, then defended pouring $500,000 into a campaign to get Wendy Rogers elected senator.

Rogers may spout anti-Semitic nonsense, but as Ducey told reporters, “she is still preferable to her opponent (a Democrat).”

Doormats do what doormats do, I guess.

They get dirty.
