Journalist tells Mexican president his supporters attacked her; he responds with contempt and disinterest – LocalNews8.com

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A reporter told Mexico’s president that his supporters publicly attacked her in June and complained that his polarization of Mexican society has put journalists at risk. When she asked him Tuesday what he would do about it, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded with a mixture of disdain and disinterest, replying, “Nothing, nothing, nothing.” The president then claimed during his daily news conference that another reporter he dislikes is a DEA agent or an informant. In a country dominated by drug cartels, that’s a dangerous accusation. At least 142 reporters and media workers have been killed in Mexico since 2000.
