Harris ad casts her as border guard, promises tougher approach to fentanyl – The Foreign Desk

In a recent campaign ad for Harris, she was portrayed as a staunch champion of border security, promising to “get tough” on drug traffickers and illegal immigrants smuggling into the country.

“Kamala Harris has spent decades fighting violent crime. As a border state prosecutor, she took on drug cartels and jailed gang members for smuggling guns and drugs across the border,” the ad reads. “As vice president, she sponsored the toughest border enforcement law in decades.”

“As president, she will hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking. Fixing the border is hard. So is Kamala Harris,” it concluded.

The ad appears to signal a shift in messaging after the campaign’s previous reticence about her role as “border czar.” Democrats previously distanced Harris from the southern border and insisted she was responsible for addressing the root causes of migration.
