Sexual Crimes in Thanjavur

Thanjavur has recently come into the limelight for disturbing cases of sexual abuse. Last month, Victor James Raja (35) from Poondi Thoppu was given a life sentence by a special court under the POCSO Act for sexually abusing children and distributing child pornography online.

The CBI, which used Interpol’s ICSE database to combat online child sexual exploitation, discovered Raja’s activities during its investigation. The CBI consulted the ICSE database, which India had recently joined, conducted searches in Thanjavur and found incriminating electronic evidence at Raja’s residence.
