El Mayo Zambada claims kidnapping by drug cartel rival

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, the prominent Mexican drug lord, is embroiled in international controversy following his recent arrest, which he claims was executed under questionable circumstances. Zambada was arrested on July 25, along with Joaquín Guzmán López, the son of the notorious Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, at Santa Teresa Airport near El Paso, Texas.

After his arrest, Zambada quickly denied that he had traveled to the U.S. voluntarily, claiming that he had been misled into believing he was meeting with political figures. “On the contrary, I was abducted and taken to the U.S. by force and against my will,” Zambada stated through his legal representation.
