Ninja Academy owner aims to go beyond last year’s 4,200 with 24-hour pull-up fundraiser

A 24-hour virtual pull-up challenge raising money to save children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation is being joined by an Osborne Park obstacle course owner who will complete thousands of reps for charity.

The 24-Hour Pull-Up Challenge takes place August 16-18 and invites fitness enthusiasts, community groups and individuals around the world to raise money for the nonprofit Destiny Rescue.

Founded in 2001, Destiny Rescue is dedicated to rescuing children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation worldwide. Its primary mission is to restore lives and empower victims to create a better future.

Since 2022, the challenge has raised $24,841, with Dave Ravi, founder of Ninja Academy in Osborne Park, being a driving force behind the fundraising.

Mr Ravi, who is in the semi-finals of the Australian Ninja Warrior, said the challenge encouraged the community to push their limits while raising money for the organisation’s work.

“Whether you are an experienced athlete or a beginner, this challenge is for everyone,” he said.

“Regardless of your age, fitness level, or previous experience with pull-ups, every rep and every dollar counts.

“Participants can do their pull-ups at home, at their local gym, or at another convenient location. You can start with just one pull-up per hour and know that you are making an immediate impact on the lives of these children in need.”

Mr. Ravi is a coach to many young children and a father himself. He has played a major role in the 24-hour Pull-up Challenge. Last year he completed an impressive 4200 pull-ups.

“Our supporters are passionate about combining their love of physical activity with their dedication to our cause. Their incredible enthusiasm and generosity makes a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children worldwide,” said Paul Mergard, CEO of Destiny Rescue Australia.
