Labatt has brought back the limited edition Zubaz striped cans

Bills fans have a longing for Zubaz, particularly as he rose to prominence and became all the rage during the Buffalo Bills’ successful playoff run of the 1990s, which resulted in a record four consecutive Super Bowl appearances for the “Bickering Bills” from 1991 to 1994.

In 2016, during a nostalgic moment, Labatt produced a limited run of Labatt Blue cans featuring the Zubaz design and the Bills colors. It was a much-needed thirst-quenching break during the Bills playoff drought.

This year, as part of an April Fool’s joke, Labatt posted a photo of their beer cans featuring the Zubaz design, sparking a frenzy among Bills fans who clamored for a return of the unmistakable pattern synonymous with Bills fan fashion and the team’s success in the 1990s.

The striped cans of Zubaz were initially unavailable…until NOW!

“Now listen. All you ever want is a chance. And you got it today. Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?!”

According to Jason Folaron, brand manager at Labatt, given the Bills Mafia’s love for Zubaz, Labatt has made good on its April Fool’s joke by reviving the iconic Labatt Zubaz cans, just in time for the current Bills season.

“When the demand for our April Fool’s joke started pouring in, we knew we had to act fast,” Folaron said. “So we’re bringing back Zubaz cans. We want to be a part of every defensive pick six, every big play, and every touchdown by giving fans a Labatt beer that’s packaged for the diehards and ready to raise at the stadium, local bars, and their tailgate parties!”

“Labatt has always celebrated the passion of Buffalo and the Bills Mafia. Nobody does tailgating and football better than us. We’re here to cheer you on and celebrate the team with a Blue Light. By bringing back Zubaz cans and last year’s favorite Throwback Tea, we’ll always be a part of the game.”

Labatt is kicking off football season by reviving the iconic Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light Zubaz cans. In addition to the Zubaz cans, Labatt is also bringing back Throwback Tea, which was introduced last year as the first official sponsor of the Bills Mafia. Throwback Tea is a non-carbonated red raspberry hard iced tea, featuring the iconic red helmet on the packaging and also tries to tap into our nostalgia for the Bills teams of the 90s.

Labatt is also a local must-have for Bills Mafia tailgates. In a recent survey by The Loupe*, Labatt was named the “Most Popular Tailgate Beverage” in New York State. “Being a part of that fan base is one thing, but being the beer they reach for is the best.”
