Colombian Vice President Praised for Harry and Meghan’s ‘Smart’ Move: ‘Being Used!’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being ‘used’ by the Colombian Vice President during their latest international tour, it has been claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted an invitation from Francia Márquez following their controversial visit to Nigeria, where they helped promote Harry’s Invictus Games.

During their four-day tour of the South American region, Harry and Meghan are expected to highlight the dangers online for children and spend time with prominent women’s rights leaders and activists.

In an interview with GB News, author Ingrid Seward spoke about the trip and praised Márquez for her “clever” move in inviting the royal couple to promote her country.

Seward told GB News of her assessment of the tour: “I really think it was done with good intentions. The vice president of Colombia is the first Afro-Colombian to hold a government position.

“She invited them because she wanted to raise awareness of equality, racism, gender issues, all those issues that the Sussexes say they are interested in.”

Seward added that the decision for Márquez was “logical” and praised the vice president for her “clever” way of “using” the royal couple for the benefit of Colombia.

Seward explained: “It’s incredibly helpful to draw attention to what’s happening in Colombia. People think Colombia is a country of drug cartels, riots and rebels. But it’s also the most beautiful country.

“I think it was very smart of Marquez to invite the Sussexes.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Seward defended the Duke and Duchess following the backlash over Harry’s decision not to return to the UK for the funeral of his uncle Lord Fellowes, insisting their final trip is a “good thing” for the Sussex brand and “not a royal tour”.

She said: “Of course they are used to promote the country, but in a way it is probably symbiotic.

“They probably get some use out of it too. So I think it’s probably a pretty good thing.

“It’s not a royal tour, it’s nothing to do with royalty. And this is quite sad, what the Queen hoped they could do for her in the Commonwealth, but it wasn’t to be.”

Seward highlighted the royal couple’s criticism of their trip to South America, despite their ongoing concerns about security in the UK. He assured that Harry and Meghan will be heavily guarded during their four-day trip.

Seward stressed, “It’s up to them what they do, but they are surrounded by security in Colombia.”

During their trip to Colombia, Harry and Meghan are expected to attend the Petronio Alvarez Festival in the city of Cali.

The itinerary also includes a visit to San Basilio de Palenque, a city founded by runaway slaves that became the first ‘free city’ in South America.
