Toronto police arrest 32 in drug and firearm investigation that spans to Manitoba and Newfoundland

Toronto police are trying to disrupt the Jamestown Crips drug and firearm trafficking network.

Deputy Chief Rob Johnson says they arrested 32 people, including a 16-year-old.

“Numerous gang affiliates have been involved in the illegal possession of firearms,” Johnson said. “Many of these affiliates have engaged in the trafficking of illicit drugs all across Ontario, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Police say the Jamestown Crips are a long-standing street gang in Toronto.

Between April and July 2024, officers carried out 35 search warrants in Toronto, Hamilton, Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph and Thompson, Manitoba.

A total of 158 charges were laid after police seized nine guns, 4.7 kg of cocaine (worth approximately $568,000), six kilograms of methamphetamine (worth approximately $480,000) and more than $320,000 in proceeds of crime.

The 32 people arrested are facing a total of 158 charges.

“This investigation demonstrates the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the dedication of our officers and partners. Together, we are disrupting these criminal networks beyond Toronto and across the country, to ensure the safety of our communities,” said Deputy Chief Rob Johnson. “We know drug trafficking fuels addiction, violence and crime. We will not let criminal gangs, firearms or drugs undermine the safety and quality of life in our city.”

All arrested individuals have appeared in court and further proceedings are underway.
