Broadway man charged with sex exploitation

Aug. 15—A Broadway man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, executed a search warrant at the home of Tyler Christian Starr, 24. Evidence found during the search resulted in the arrest of Starr, according to a release.

According to state law, a person commits first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor if the person “uses, employs, induces, coerces, encourages or facilitates a minor to engage in sexual activity for a live performance or for the purpose of producing material that contains a visual representation depicting this activity.”

Other elements including transporting a minor to engage in sexual activity, recording or documenting sexual activity for profit, and allowing “a minor in his custody or control to engage in sexual activity for a live performance…”

Starr’s bail was set at $100,000.
