The Palestinian Foreign Ministry describes the violent actions by the settlers as a serious escalation of ongoing crimes against Palestinians.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned an attack by Israeli settlers on the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya in the West Bank, last Friday, calling it “organized state terrorism.”

In a statement, the ministry described the settler looting as a serious escalation of ongoing crimes against Palestinians and demanded “deterrent sanctions against the racist colonial system, the dismantling of terrorist settler gangs and the prosecution of their members.”

The ministry asked: “How can these terrorist gangs mobilize 100 armed members with weapons supplied by Ben-Gvir and attack a Palestinian village if they do not feel protected and supported politically, legally and in terms of security?”

Hamas, in turn, condemned the settler attack, which included arson, vandalism and destruction of property. Hamas also called on the Palestinian population in the West Bank to fight the settler gangs.

“We mourn the heroic martyr Rashid Mahmoud Sada, who was killed by settler militias in the village of Jit, and we affirm that this pure blood will not be in vain and will be a curse for the occupation,” it added.

Settler attack recalls 1948 massacres

In the same context, the Islamic Jihad movement viewed the attack as a declaration of war against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank.

The movement’s statement noted that the attack recalled the mass murders carried out in 1948 by the Stern Gang, Irgun and Haganah, with the aim of forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from their land. The movement claimed that “the IOF’s involvement in protecting these crimes proves that the ongoing actions are part of a government plan under war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.”

The Palestinian al-Mujahideen movement mourned the Qalqilya martyr and considered the “terrorist attack” an extension of the genocide led by the “fascist Israeli government against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.”

The movement considered the attack a “dangerous development in Zionist aggression against our people, which must be answered with a qualitative escalation in resistance and confrontation.”

It called on the Palestinian population in the towns and villages of the West Bank to “mobilize on a large scale and launch a comprehensive uprising to forcefully confront the crimes of the Zionists and thwart their criminal plans to eradicate the Palestinian presence and expel our people.”

Furthermore, the Palestinian Resistance Committees mourned martyr Rashid Mahmoud Sada and affirmed that “this crime is part of the systematic war waged by the Zionist entity to uproot our people and expel them from their land.”

Israeli settlers invade West Bank town, commit arson and random killings

A Palestinian youth was killed and another seriously wounded on Thursday evening during an attack by Israeli settlers on the village of Jit, east of Qalqilya in the West Bank.

The settlers also set fire to several Palestinian homes and vehicles in Jit. According to local sources, the Israeli occupation forces blocked the Palestinian Civil Defense teams from reaching the burning homes and vehicles to extinguish the flames.

These recent incidents are part of a broader escalation of violence in the West Bank, where clashes have increased since the start of Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Towns and villages in the West Bank are attacked daily by settlers and occupation forces, often resulting in large numbers of arrests, but also deaths and injuries.

Since the start of the war in Gaza on October 7, at least 606 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 5,400 others injured by Israeli occupation forces and Israeli settlers in various towns and camps in the West Bank.
