Baseball player Wander Franco’s sexual abuse hearing postponed (+DETAILS)

The start of the preliminary trial against Dominican baseball player Wander Francoaccused of sexually abusing a minor, scheduled for this Wednesday, was postponed until September 26.

Wander Franco postponed due to lack of evidence

Franco is accused in the Dominican Republic of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and human trafficking of a minor.

The Dominican Republic’s defense asked the court to postpone the hearing, as the Puerto Plata Public Prosecutor’s Office had not provided evidence in the case.

The lawyers of the mother of the minor, who is also accused by the authorities, also agreed. Franco, who was present at the hearing, for his part, did not make any statements to the press.

“I think he will ask for dismissal,” said the attorney for the minor’s father.

According to lawyer Dignora Diloné, the legal representative of the father of the minor with whom Franco allegedly had sexual relations and who was the only one to speak to the press after the hearing ended, the judge granted the defense lawyers’ request and set the next hearing date for September 26, 2024.
