A Wakefield man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after being convicted of multiple rapes against two teenage girls.

Nadeem Hussain, aged 46, formerly of Regent Street, Wakefield, was found guilty of four charges of rape and one charge of sexual assault by penetration after a four-week trial at Grimsby Crown Court. Grimsby is in Lincolnshire – some 71 miles away. The nearest Crown Court centre to Wakefield is Leeds. Perhaps there was quicker capacity available in Grimsby; or perhaps the CPS wanted his case to be tried by a jury of his peers rather than his cousins.

He was sentenced today (Thursday 15) was sentenced to 21 years in prison at Grimsby Crown Court and made the subject of a life-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which places restrictions on his release from prison to further protect the public.

The victims were 16 and 17 years old at the time of the crimes.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Senior, of Wakefield District’s Child Vulnerable to Exploitation Team (CVET), said: “Hussain manipulated his victims over a prolonged period of time, feeding them heroin and crack cocaine to facilitate his sexual offences. These were vulnerable teenage girls who he exploited. The sentence he has received reflects the fact that he is a dangerous offender who belongs behind bars.

“This trial was the culmination of a complex two-year investigation by CVET. Hussain refused to admit his guilt, resulting in a four-week trial and I am pleased that his victims have now received justice. That said, no prison sentence can ever erase the lasting emotional, physical and psychological damage that Hussain has caused these two young girls.
