NJPW G1 Climax Night 18 Results and Review (August 17, 2024)

On August 17, 2024, NJPW will broadcast the 18th Night of G1 Climax live in Tokyo, Japan at the Ryogoku Kokugikan to 5,340 fans. The show can be watched on NJPW World.

TMDK (Strong Openweight Tag Team Champion Mikey Nicholls & Robbie Eagles) vs. Yoshi Hashi & Shoma Kato

Robbie Eagles works Shoma Kato’s left arm before Mikey Nicholls takes Kato down with a chop.

Yoshi Hashi finally steps in and attacks TMDK, then DDTs Nicholls for a near fall.

Nicholls hits his own DDT and they’re both behind, but Eagles comes back, but Yoshi Hashi hits a Headhunter on Eagles.

Kato comes in and gives Eagles a Boston Crab, but Eagles escapes and wins with Turbo Backpack.

Bullet Club War Dogs (strong openweight champion Gabe Kidd and Jake Lee) vs. Tomoaki Honma and Hirooki Goto

Bullet Club War Dogs ran into the ring to attack Hirooki Goto & Tomoaki Honma and the action spilled out to ringside. In the ring, Gabe Kidd & Honma traded blows and Kidd bit his forehead.

Goto tags in and fights Kidd before Honma and Lee trade chops. Honma misses the Kokeshi.

Lee executes a huge back suplex for a near fall, then Goto gives Kidd a neckbreaker over his knee.

Honma headbutts Lee before Lee executes an FBS for the win.

United Empire (Television Champion Jeff Cobb & Callum Newman) & Konosuke Takeshita vs. Guerrillas Of Density (El Phantasmo & Jado) & Shota Umino

Shota Umino was again unable to apprehend Jeff Cobb before eventually bodyslamming him.

Callum Newman hits a double stomp on Umino’s back. Konosuke Takeshita fought Umino.

Umino hit a dropkick and they both went to the floor.

Jado comes in and Guerrillas Of Density performs a double shoulder tackle on Takeshita.

Even more miscommunication between Jado and ELP, as they were placed in each other’s extension.

Takeshita hits Jado with a forearm strike, scoring the victory.

Winners: United Empire & Konosuke Takeshita (8:33)

NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champions Be Bop Tag Team (Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano) & Boltin Oleg, Tiger Mask IV & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. House Of Torture (Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Yujiro Takahashi, Ren Narita, Evil & Sho)

Evil choked Tiger Mask with a shirt for a near fall, when Ren hit a Mafia Kick on Narita for a near fall while they kept Tiger Mask in their corner. Tiger Mask hits Tiger Driver on Narita.

Boltin Oleg comes in, but House Of Torture attacks him before taking them down with a shoulder tackle.

He splashed Sho for a near fall and then performed a gutwrench suplex on Narita before Toru Yano tagged in. He fought off Evil and got a roll-up for a near fall.

Togo delivers a razor-sharp blow to Yano’s groin as House Of Torture beats Yano up.

Evil delivers low blows to Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi, then hits Yano with Everything Is Evil for the win.

Bullet Club (Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Drilla Maloney & Clark Connors & Taiji Ishimori) vs. Just 5 Guys (Junior Heavyweight Champion Douki, Taka Michinoku & Taichi)

Taiji Ishimori chokes Douki with a shirt, after which Clark Connors performs a powerslam on Douki.

Drilla Maloney hits him a few times with a chop, before Douki gives him a DDT.

Taichi comes in and gives Maloney a spinkick to the face, after which Maloney gives Taichi an enzuigiri.

Taka Michinoku comes in and ties Ishimori’s head to the mat, then pins Connors.

Ishimori traps Michinoku with the Bone Lock, but Taichi saves him before Ishimori applies the Bone Lock again, and this time Michinoku resigns.

United Empire (NEVER Openweight Champion Henare, KOPW 2024 Champion Great O Khan & Francesco Akira) vs. Los Ingobernables De Japon (IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi & Bushi)

Hiromu Takahashi performs a German suplex on Henare and then a Falcon Arrow for a near fall.

Henare hits Takahashi with a Berzerker Bomb for a near fall, before Bushi finally comes in and hits a basement dropkick on Great O Khan, sending Henare diving through the ropes. Akira hits a plancha on the floor.

Henare hit Bushi’s jaw with a knee that nearly knocked him down, then applied the Ultima, which Bushi tapped out.

Non-titled semi-final of the 2024 G1 Climax
Winner Block B 1 World Champion David Finlay vs. Winner Block B 3 Yota Tsuji

David Finlay immediately hits Oblivion for a nearfall, mounts Yota Tsuji and delivers a series of punches, shoving the referee and getting booed. Finlay hits Oblivion with a standing powerbomb for a nearfall.

Finlay hit another standing powerbomb for a believable near fall. Finlay hit a couple of Buckle Bombs.

Tsuji nearly hits Gene Blaster and they both end up on the ground before Tsuji delivers a Curb Stomp.

He hits the Marlow Crush for a near fall and Finlay tries the Oblivion, but Tsuji blocks it.

Tsuji headbutts him and does a Deadbolt Suplex, then wins with a Gene Blaster.

Winner: Yota Tsuji (28:05)

2024 G1 Climax Semi-Finals
Block A Winner 2 Shingo Takagi vs. Block A Winner 1 Zack Sabre Jr

Shingo Takagi hits a Death Valley Driver and another Pumping Bomber, but he can barely run because he is handicapped.

Zack Sabre Jr went for a sleeper, so Takagi fell backwards on top of him, but ZSJ somehow reversed it into a triangle choke. Takagi hits Last Of The Dragon for a near fall.

ZSJ delivers a series of punches to Takagi’s face before taking him down with a clothesline and then another Zack Driver.

He applied a grapevine leg drop again and Takagi teased by covering his own mouth and pulling the referee’s ankles. He taps out

Winner by Submission: Zack Sabre Jr (27:36) (He will face Yota Tsuji in the final)
