Islamabad sees increase in car thefts – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Car thefts have increased significantly in the federal capital in the past week as carjackers have stolen or taken away more than 139 vehicles from different places.

According to data collected by Company recorderOver 27 cases of street crimes and 35 cases of robberies were reported at various police stations of the city, with citizens being robbed of valuables worth millions of rupees. As many as three cases of murder were registered at the police stations of the city during the same period.

According to the police file, there were 139 cases of car theft, including 14 cars and 125 motorcycles. During the same period, criminal gangs were most active in Karachi Company, Aabpara, Kohsar, Margalla, Tarnol, Sangjani and Industrial Area.

During the period under investigation, carjackers stole 14 motorcycles from the limits of Margalla police station, 11 motorcycles were stolen from the jurisdiction of Aabpara police station, nine bikes and two cars from the limits of Karachi Company station, 10 cars from the limits of Tarnol police station and another nine bikes from the jurisdiction of Kohsar police station.

Further, 11 cases of car theft, four cases of street crime and three cases of robbery were reported at Karachi police station, 11 cases of carjacking, four cases of street crime and two cases of robbery were registered at Aabpara police station and nine cases of vehicle theft, four cases of street crime and two cases of robbery were reported at Kohsar police station.

Last week, 14 cases of car theft were reported at Margalla police station, 10 cases of car theft, 10 motorcycles and 1 car, 1 case of street crime and 1 case of robbery at Tarnol police station and 1 case of murder, 11 cases of car theft and 1 case of robbery at Sangjani police station.

During the period under investigation, the industrial area police station recorded eight cases of car theft, two cases of street crime and two cases of robbery. Another eight cases of car theft and one case of robbery were reported to the secretariat police station.
