Mysterious meeting between minister and Tommy Robinson’s representative

A government minister held a private meeting with a key ally of Tommy Robinson, the far-right leader accused of inciting riots following the Southport stabbings.

Louise Haigh, the transport secretary, met Sammy Woodhouse, a victim of the Rotherham grooming gang scandal who now works as a ‘citizen journalist’ for Urban Scoop, an alternative news site linked to Robinson.

No officials attended the meeting, which took place on Thursday in Sheffield, where Haigh is an MP.

Louise Haigh was reportedly questioned about the taxi licence during the meeting with Woodhouse

The revelation is likely to raise questions about Haigh’s judgement and could raise concerns about a possible conflict of interest between ministers.

Woodhouse, 39, has characterized the meeting as a discussion that was partly about official transport matters. Sources close to Haigh, 37, a longtime friend
