Folsom man sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexual exploitation of minor – Egn-aquitaine

August 18, 2024 – SACRAMENTO, CA – Matthew Goyder, 41, of Folsom, was sentenced last Thursday by U.S. District Judge Daniel J. Calabretta faces up to 40 years in prison and life probation for sexual exploitation of a minor, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert said.

According to court documents, Goyder used Snapchat to contact and sextort underage victims for sexually explicit images and videos. Goyder claimed to be a teenager when he first contacted the victims. When officers searched Goyder’s iPhone, they found approximately 120 albums, including many albums with the victims’ names and ages.

This case was investigated by the Folsom Police Department and the Sacramento Valley Hi-tech Crimes Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Roger Yang prosecuted the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
