Bills Mafia Babes raise money for mental health services in WNY

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Just one day after the Buffalo Bills took down the Steelers 9-3 in week two of the preseason, Bills babes came together in the name of charity.

The Bills Mafia Babes is a nonprofit organization that uses Facebook to connect women of the Bills Mafia together. Last year, the group began to host what was slated to become an annual meetup in cities across the country.

“There’s been relationships built, there’s been education in football – everything,” said Co-coordinator of the Rochester chapter, Suzanne Halberstadt.

Sunday, the group once again called women together. The Rochester chapter took to Tin Cup Social in Fairport this year. The organization uses the event as a way to benefit charity.

“This month we’re supporting BestSelf Behavioral Health, which just recently partnered with the Buffalo Bills,” said Jeanna Ross, co-coordinator of the Rochester chapter.

During Sunday’s event, attendees were treated to a live DJ that played music and hosted trivia games while folks enjoyed food and drinks. There were also raffles available.

“Our raffle teams worked hard, M&T Bank gave us a nice, signed Dawson Knox jersey,” said Suzanna Prong, a member of the Bills Mafia Babes.

The group as a whole has helped a lot of women with similar interests come together, organizers said.

“Some of us – our husbands, boyfriends, significant others, aren’t football fans,” Ross explained. “So, it’s a great place to find people who like to do the things we like to do in the football season.”

During last year’s national meetup day, they said the group raised more than $9,000 to be donated to Dion’s Dreamers, the official foundation of Bills star Dion Dawkins.
