A transgender pedophile in Illinois is being held in a women’s prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of his two children. Michelle Blessent, born James, is being held at Logan Correctional Facility in Lincoln, Illinois.

As previously reported by ReduxxBlessent, 35, was first arrested in April 2023 on a five-count charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.

But on November 15 of that year, three more charges were filed, including an additional count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, a count of grooming, and a count of exploitation of a child. In a public notice on their official Facebook, the Bloomington Police Department confirmed that the new charges were for the original victim. During the trial, a second young victim under the age of 13 was named. Both victims were alleged to be Blessent’s biological children – a boy and a girl.

When he was arrested in April, a ministry spokesperson admitted they treated the arrest as that of a woman because of Blessent’s “gender identity.”

In a statement to local radio station Cities 92.9Officer Brandt Parsley explained that Blessent’s arrest marked “uncharted territory for law enforcement.” He did confirm that Blessent had legally changed his name to Michelle, according to McLean County Clerk documents he reviewed. ReduxxAccording to the records, Blessent filed a name change request in July 2022 and successfully completed the process in December.

After the initial release of Blessent’s arrest photo, many community members expressed confusion over the police’s description of Blessent as a “female.” On Facebook, many responded to the Bloomington Police Department’s comments that Blessent was a man and that describing him as a “female” was incorrect.

As a result, some trans activists defended Blessent in the comments and condemned the Bloomington Police Department for not censoring the “transphobic” comments in their press release.

On June 26, Blessent was sentenced to 42 years each for two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, as well as three years for one count of grooming. The sentences will be served consecutively, for a total of 87 years. Under Illinois law, Blessent must serve at least 85 percent of the time for the sexual assault charges, meaning he will not be eligible for parole until 2095, at which time he would be 106 years old.

Bodycam footage of Blessent’s arrest two weeks ago was released, showing the man being approached by police officers at his home. In the video, Blessent is seen wearing a short, floral dress, and officers address him using female pronouns. According to Police InsiderBlessent told police he could not have sexually abused the children because estrogen made it difficult for him to maintain an erection.

But disturbingly, Blessent is being held in a women’s prison.

Despite Blessent being legally male and having a valid gender designation in the Illinois Offender Directory, he was sent to Logan Correctional Center for Women in Lincoln.

But Blessent isn’t the only man who identifies as transgender and has been sent to Logan.

In 2019, the Illinois Department of Corrections approved the transfer of a transgender inmate from an all-male prison to a women’s facility after he alleged he had been the victim of sexual harassment and abuse. Janiah Monroe, born Andre Patterson, successfully secured a transfer with the help of several trans activists and law firms, while claiming he struggled with PTSD from his initial placement in a men’s prison.

Monroe, who was convicted of multiple crimes including second-degree murder, was later charged with raping a female inmate at Logan, sexually harassing female inmates and threatening staff members.

Although IDOC attempted to transfer him back to the men’s prison, Governor Pritzker’s office overrode the decision and allowed him to remain in the women’s prison. Pritzker is known as a vocal supporter of trans activism and is the brother of Jennifer Pritzker, a transgender male billionaire who frequently donates to trans causes.

Monroe’s discharge date is scheduled for March 2054.

A third transgender man briefly held at Logan, Strawberry Hampton, was released in 2019. Hampton, who was serving a sentence for burglary, sued IDOC, alleging discrimination and mistreatment while he was incarcerated. A federal judge later ordered IDOC staff to undergo extensive training on transgender issues.
