Apple investigating scam in original podcast from ‘McMillion$’ duo – DNyuz

EXCLUSIVE: Apple is moving forward with an original podcast with a new focus on scams.

The tech company, which runs its original podcast business through its Apple TV+ division, is launching Scam by James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte, the directors of HBO docuseries McMillion$ and Apple’s The Great Conn.

Scam will investigate a different scam each episode with a mix of wild hustles, surprise heists, forbidden love and explosive moments, with stories told by both the creators and the people who lived them. These include telemarketing scams targeting seniors, an arsonist who sets the city of Boston on fire, the downfall of the Italian mafia over olive oil and the escapades of a rare book thief.

The 11-episode series is produced by FunMeter, the production company founded by Lee Hernandez and Lazarte, who are executive producers. The series premieres on August 26.

It’s the latest original podcast for Apple, which previously launched shows like The Line, Hooked, Operation: Tradebom, My Divo And Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy.

Also, don’t be surprised if Scamtown is turned into a docuseries for the platform; The Great Connwhich was directed by the duo, was also a podcast and a four-part series.
