Hampstead man facing several child exploitation charges

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Hampstead man is facing several child sex charges following an investigation by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to Pender County Sheriff’s Office news release, 24-year-old Devin Michael Brode was arrested on Friday.

The report says the Pender County Sheriff’s Office received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Special Victims Unit detectives working the case say Brode was in possession of multiple images of child sexual abuse material.

Brode is charged with 20 counts of felony Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of Minors.

He was given a $500,000 secured bond and is in the Pender County Jail.

The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says this investigation continues and there may be additional charges.
