They supported the Albanian mafia led by Gjika, 3 justice officials arrested in Ecuador

It appears that the Albanian cocaine mafia in Ecuador, which managed to bribe high-ranking police and justice officials, is suffering heavy blows in this country, a major producer of the expensive drug. Local media reports that two people are in handcuffs and another has been listed as wanted by the authorities in Ecuador. They are accused of supporting the Albanian mafia, specifically the group led by Dritan Gjika.

According to local media, two justice officials, Douglas C. and Luis S., were arrested in a joint operation between the National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Meanwhile, Judge Lenin G., who is also accused of benefiting members of the Albanian mafia, has been declared wanted.

A statement from the local prosecutor’s office said that the arrested individuals had “irregularly” taken security measures in favor of the three suspects, who were part of the Albanian mafia. These citizens, who were in prison for organized crime and money laundering, are suspected of being part of a criminal network led by Dritan G”.

The Public Prosecution Service has also asked the police for help in finding Judge Lenin G., from the same Judicial Unit, who allegedly ordered the release of the suspects and for whom an arrest warrant is pending. He is currently on the run and has not yet been found by the police.

WHO IS DRITAN GIKA

Dritan Gjika, wanted as leader of the Albanian mafia operating in Ecuador, is accused of collaborating with four individuals, Mario S, Carina E, Carlos G and Pablo H, to launder more than 31 million dollars in drug trafficking proceeds. Seven companies or legal entities are also in the process. The judge has ordered pre-trial detention, confiscation of property and blocking of accounts against them. He has ordered the police to find and arrest the suspects, Ecuadorian media report.

For Gjika and other wanted individuals, the court ordered the confiscation of the assets and bank accounts they have in Ecuador. On February 7, the National Police, together with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested Julio L., Jonnathan L., Bryan L., Javier C. and Teresa P. as a result of the “Pampa” operation, which took place in different cities in Ecuador and also in Spain. The citizens under investigation are suspected of having profited from various assets such as expensive vehicles, luxury apartments or land through drug trafficking income. Meanwhile, Dritan Gjika is wanted in Ecuador, after the police discovered his suspected participation in cocaine trafficking from Colombia to Ecuador, with Europe as his final destination. However, this did not prevent Gjika from recently selling one of his companies, despite the court’s prohibition.
