Mafia: The Old Country – Official Teaser Trailer

As the finale to Gamescom Opening Night Live, developer Hangar 13 revealed its next game, Mafia: The Old CountryWhile we didn’t get a ton of details about the game, we do know that more information will come during this year’s Game Awards, which take place on December 12, 2024.

The trailer gives us a glimpse of a man waking up with a shotgun on his desk, a switchblade stuck in the desk, and a beautiful view of his balcony before we cut to the title, Mafia: The Old Country. That’s all we know for now.

The description of the YouTube video reads: ‘Discover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Countrya gritty mafia story set in the brutal underworld of Sicily in the 1900s. Fight to survive in this dangerous and ruthless era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

We don’t know much more about the game, but Sicily in the 1900s is a great time to tell a mafia story. With the Cosa Nostra starting to ingrain itself into Sicilian life, there’s a wide range of sources to draw from. It could even explore the issues the mafia faced during the Benito Mussolini era, where the mafia was constantly being fought and challenged by the government.

There’s plenty to talk about with Mafia: The Old CountryBut we won’t have to wait much longer to find out more, as The Game Awards are just around the corner. The game is set to release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
