‘Crime, chaos, destruction and death’: Trump attacks Harris on law and order

Former President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris would cause a significant increase in crime if she won the presidential election. He also promised to lower the numbers, including by securing the southern border.

Trump made the comments at a rally in Howell, Michigan, during the Democratic National Convention.

“Kamala Harris will bring crime, chaos, destruction and death if she is president of the United States,” he said. “You will see levels of crime that you have never seen before.”

“I will ensure order, security and peace, and I will protect those who protect us,” he added.

“So we’re going to make a record investment in hiring, retaining and training police officers,” Trump said. “We’re losing a tremendous amount of police officers. These are men and women who want to be police officers, and they’re just leaving. We’re going to get you reinforcements.”

“We will break up and dismantle the gangs, the vicious criminal networks, the bloodthirsty cartels, and we will stop the fentanyl,” he continued. “Kamala Harris has literally allowed hordes of illegal alien criminals to storm into our country. We are going to stop that on day one. We are going to close our borders. We are going to get all the bad guys out, and we are going to get them out fast.”

Trump’s speech was part of the DNC’s Republican counterprogramming, with Tuesday’s events focusing on crime and safety. GOP vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., gave speeches on the same topic at separate events earlier in the day.
