Mafia is back and coming to The Old Country next year

It’s been two years since Mafia developer Hangar 13 confirmed it was working on a new entry in its open-world crime series, and the time has finally come to reveal it to the world. It’s called Mafia: The Old Country, and it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year.

While 2016’s Mafia 3 sent the series back in time to the late 1960s (the first two games were set in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s), The Old Country goes back in time, offering players a “gritty mafia story set in the brutal underworld of Sicily in the 1900s.”

“Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era,” reads the sparse text accompanying today’s teaser trailer, “with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

And that’s about all Hangar 13 has to say for now. Those looking to learn more about Mafia: The Old Country will have to wait until December, when the studio says it will share additional information.

So there you have it; Mafia: The Old Country is coming sometime next year to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. And if you’ve yet to experience the Mafia saga as it exists today, all three titles are discounted for a limited time – in both their original and remastered Definitive Edition forms – on Valve’s storefront to coincide with today’s big reveal.
