Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of our initiative aimed at strengthening social cohesion by empowering communities to co-lead early recovery processes. This project is designed to increase the resilience of conflict-affected communities in Northwest Syria by promoting peaceful coexistence, empowering local leadership and reducing conflict risks through dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution and community-led recovery initiatives.

As Project Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and monitoring of all project activities. You will work closely with community stakeholders, local protection and peace committees and partner organisations to ensure the successful delivery of project activities that promote social cohesion, peacebuilding and community empowerment. Your role will include managing project staff, liaising with donors and ensuring that project objectives are achieved within the allocated timeline and budget.

Main Responsibilities

• Leads and manages the overall implementation of the project in accordance with its objectives and goals.
• Develop and maintain work plans, budgets and reports to ensure timely execution of project activities.
• Oversee the establishment and capacity building of local protection and peace committees, and ensure that they are equipped to conduct community dialogues, peacefully resolve local conflicts and lead community-based peace initiatives.
• Foster relationships with local authorities, community leaders, CBOs and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and participation.
• Oversee the organization and implementation of community dialogue sessions, awareness campaigns and capacity building trainings.
• Monitor project results and ensure that all activities are carried out according to organizational standards, timelines and donor requirements.
• Manages project staff and provides leadership, guidance and mentorship to the team.
• Ensure sound financial management and reporting in accordance with donor and organizational policies.
• Regularly report to senior management and donors on progress, challenges and results.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications

• Turkish citizenship (mandatory).
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international development, conflict mediation, peace studies, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, of which at least 3 years in peacebuilding, social cohesion or community recovery initiatives.
• Demonstrable experience in conflict areas, particularly in projects focused on peacebuilding, community empowerment or early recovery.
• Demonstrated experience in leading multi-stakeholder collaborations, including government agencies, NGOs and civil society organizations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project staff.
• Knowledge of donor-funded project management, including proposal development, budgeting and reporting.
• Fluent in Arabic and proficient in English.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desired skills:

• Knowledge of mainstreaming protection and working with vulnerable groups, including women, children and displaced populations.
• Knowledge of peacebuilding and conflict mediation methodologies.
• Knowledge of the humanitarian context in North-West Syria, with previous work experience in cross-border projects considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of digital tools for project management and reporting.
