FIA cracks down on police mafia – Newspaper

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday launched a crackdown on mafia and arrested seven people who illegally sent people to Iran and Iraq.

According to a spokesperson of the FIA, the anti-trafficking department has exposed a network of agents in Lahore who were illegally sending people to Iran and Iraq. More than 1,500 passports have been seized from them.

The arrested officers have been identified as Mudassar Shah, Nadim Shah, Raza, Kibriya, Samar Abbas, Umair Ahmad and Hasnain Shah.

The spokesman said the suspects ran the “consultancy firm” under the pretext of sending pilgrims to Iran and Iraq, for which they also had no permits.

He said the suspects were also involved in arranging illegal travel such as border crossing for aspirants. He said fake embassy stamps of Iran and Iraq were also found with them.

FIA Director General Ahmad Ishaq Jehangir has praised Lahore Director Sarfraz Virk and his team for exposing the network and said the crackdown on human traffickers and agent mafia would continue.
