Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 was the main event on the agenda last night, with a fun little pre-show that shouldn’t be ignored either. Both the show and the pre-show had brand new unannounced games to show off, by our count, 16 brand new games! So we’ve put together a list of every game that was shown off, that to our knowledge, was previously unannounced. So let’s dive in!

World Premieres at Gamescom’s ONL 2024:

Borderlands 4 made its debut at the main Gamescom ONL show, with a short teaser trailer. It’s set for release in 2025.

Sniper Elite: Resistance – Coming 2025

Sniper Elite: Resistance was shown off at the Gamescom ONL pre-show and is set in World War II-occupied France. It looks set to continue the premise of previous Sniper Elite games, namely shooting Nazis from far, far away.

If the MudRunner series was all about building roads, this is what it would look like. And if you’re into that sort of thing, then we imagine RoadCraft is one to keep an eye on. It also has co-op.

A slightly creepy take on the farming sim genre. With a spooky storyline, this farming sim challenges you not only to care for crops and livestock, but also to protect yourself from whatever lurks in the darkness at night. There’s also a demo available now, if you want to get scared!

In the near future, you are a game tester and AILA is an AI that will create new and terrifying scenarios for you to test and survive.

Phew, that’s enough horror games for now, let’s take a breather with Revenge of the Savage Planet! This return to the franchise brings with it the added feature of local and online co-op, so you can adventure with a friend this time around!

Oh look, we’re back with another horror game! Directive 8020 is a return to the Dark Pictures anthology, it’s been a while since we’ve had a game in the anthology but for fans it’s good to see it return, with what looks to be a very different setting this time around.

Kyle Crane from the original Dying Light returns in this action-packed spin-off. Dying Light: The Beast is a shorter experience, aiming to be around 20 hours long, but hopefully it will be a tightly crafted experience as a result.

King of Meat is a Dungeon Creator and Dungeon Crawler for 1-4 players, where you can create and share your own dungeons, as well as participate in dungeons created by others.

Lynched – October 22, 2024

Lynked is a 1-4 player co-op action rogue-like coming to early access in October. It looks like it could be a nice portable game too!

Despite appearances, this is not Little Nightmares 3, but is from the creators of Little Nightmares 1 and 2. Confusingly, Little Nightmares 3 was shown later in the same show!

Herdling is a game about… herding… It seems like you have to lead your herd through the world to what is probably a safe place. From the vibes we’re getting from the trailer, I’m guessing something terribly emotional will happen at some point, and you’ll cry.

Peter Molyneux is back! This time with Masters of Albion, which basically looks like a modern take on Black & White. RTS elements are mixed with the ability to possess characters in the game world to fight them. The possessing looks a bit bland to me, so hopefully there’s some polishing to be done before we see this release.

Floatopia – Coming 2025

You will live in a cute world and you will be happy! Floatopia may be overly cute, but you can’t deny that it has an attractive charm. This life sim invites you to create your own island and visit other people’s islands as well.

Of course, we follow up the cute life sim with a game about organized crime! Mafia: The Old Country takes us back in time to the founding of the Sicilian mafia in the early 1900s. The game is due out next year. This was the last game shown at Gamescom’s ONL.

Conclusion

And from what I can tell, that’s all the brand new game announcements from the Gamescom Opening Night Live show. We still have 3 days of Gamescom left, with Xbox hosting the main show each day, so we’ll see what’s in store there. We’ll be sure to bring you the news, whatever it is.
