Police raid Andrew Tate’s Romanian properties in escalating human trafficking investigation

Romanian authorities raided the properties of controversial influencer Andrew Tate on Wednesday, intensifying an ongoing investigation into allegations of human trafficking and rape against him.

Tate, who is already awaiting trial on rape and human trafficking charges, now faces additional charges including sexual exploitation of minors, money laundering, human trafficking and witness tampering.

According to the Romanian Directorate for Organized Crime (DIICOT), search warrants were executed in four locations in Bucharest and the Ilfov region as part of this extensive investigation.

The raids are part of a wider investigation into Tate’s activities, which has been ongoing for several months. Tate and his brother were first detained in Romania in December 2022 and released from house arrest in August 2023.

The investigation initially began after an American woman reported being held against her will at one of Tate’s properties. Authorities have since expanded their investigation, as they suspect Tate is involved in a larger human trafficking network.

Despite mounting allegations, Tate has consistently denied any involvement in illegal activities.

In response to the recent raids, he posted on X: “The Matrix is real. And they have a tried and true playbook. Slander is their main tool and the trial is the punishment. But unfortunately for them, good always wins in the end.

Tate has repeatedly claimed that Romanian prosecutors lack reliable evidence and that the charges against him are part of a larger plot to silence him.

The Tate brothers, both former kickboxers with dual British and American nationality, are accused of running a pornography production company that allegedly exploited women and was part of a criminal organisation.

In addition to the Tate brothers, two female Romanian associates and seven alleged victims are involved in the case.
