The Global Services Tech at Lilly team is actively seeking a Data Engineer to collaborate with internal business and Tech at Lilly partners to accelerate the delivery of data solutions for analytics and business purposes.

What you will do:

A data engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis and/or business transactions. They design and implement efficient data storage, processing, and retrieval solutions for datasets and build data pipelines, optimize database designs, and work closely with data scientists, architects, and analysts to ensure data quality and accessibility. Data engineers need strong skills in data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonization, and transformation of data. They play a critical role in transforming raw data into datasets designed for analysis, enabling organizations to unlock valuable insights for decision making.

How you will succeed:

· Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams within Global Services, internal partners, external solution providers and data architects to understand the business problem and enhance/develop the right data solution leveraging the modern technology stack

· Design and implement high-performance data entry/processing pipelines from multiple sources

· Develop technical solutions that combine disparate information to create meaningful insights for business partners

· Work with a quality mindset and always consider the impact of design decisions on the long-term support and maintenance of data pipelines/tasks

· Ensure that data integrity, security and privacy requirements are met. · Stay up to date with tools and technologies to influence our strategy so that it provides the best use cases for businesses.

What to bring:

· A basic understanding of: communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving skills, defining solutions/blueprints, business acumen, architecture processes (e.g. blueprints, reference architecture, governance, etc.), technical standards, project delivery and industry knowledge.

· Strong skills in data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonization and transformation

· Experience in designing large-scale data models for functional, operational and analytical environments (conceptual, logical, physical and dimensional)

  • Experience in several of the following disciplines: statistical methods, data modeling, ontology development, semantic graph construction and linked data, relational schema design.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SQL/PLSQL and data modeling.
  • Experience with data modeling tools
  • Experience with AWS or Azure Tech Stack
  • Experience in building/integrating APIs
  • Experience in creating data products using APIs
  • Experience with security models and development on large datasets
  • Experience with multiple database technologies
  • Experience with multiple database solutions (e.g. Postgres, Redshift, Aurora, Athena) and formal database designs (3NF, dimensional models)
  • Experience with Agile Development, CI/CD, Jenkins, Github, automation platforms
  • Experience in implementing an effective data loading strategy (CDC, incremental loads)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data domains and devise practical solutions for the subsequent exploitation of data through analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a geographically dispersed group of business and technical colleagues
  • Ability to assess design patterns, performance considerations and optimization, database versions, and database implementation strategies and make practical recommendations
  • Knowledge of data functions such as Data Governance, Master Data Management, Business Intelligence
  • Experience with PowerBI

Basic requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems.

· Experience with data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonization and transformation

· Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data domains and devise practical solutions for the subsequent exploitation of data through analytics.

Additional preferences:

· CDMP certification or considering obtaining certification within the next year

· AWS Solution Architect or considering obtaining certification within a year

· Understanding a highly regulated environment that places demands on data privacy and confidential information
