As injuries pile up, meet new Bills QB Anthony Brown

In two consecutive exhibition games, the Buffalo Bills saw their backup and third quarterback get injured. The team had to bring in new quarterbacks: Ben DiNucci and now Anthony Brown. They will serve as healthy replacements for starting quarterback Josh Allen.

Today’s Buffalo Rumblinks begins with the introduction of Bills Mafia’s newest quarterback, Anthony Brown, a former Pac-12 star.

Meet the new Bills QB Anthony Brown

The Bills can’t catch a break on the injury front. First, third-string quarterback Shane Buechele suffered a season-ending neck injury in the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Then, backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky injured his knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is expected to miss several weeks with the injury.

Meet Anthony Brown, who comes to Buffalo after recently being released by the Las Vegas Raiders. An undrafted free agent from the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft, Brown was a star quarterback at the University of Oregon, where he passed for 2,989 yards with 18 touchdowns and ran for 658 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season with the Ducks.

In three years in the NFL, Brown played in two games in his rookie season with the Ravens, completing 22 of 49 passes for 302 yards with a pair of interceptions. Brown was signed to solidify the quarterback position for Buffalo’s final preseason game.

QB Josh Allen happy with current contract

The quarterback market has exploded since Josh Allen signed his six-year, $258 million extension just over three years ago. While his contract numbers may make Allen seem underpaid, at least by today’s quarterback standards, Allen is happy with his current deal.

WR Keon Coleman learns on the job

Rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman is adjusting to life in the NFL after being selected with the first overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Listen to Coleman discuss Mitch Trubisky’s dropped touchdown pass and why he “has to make that catch,” and find out how Coleman continues to improve as he enters the regular season.
