Andrew Tate Under New Harassment Over Allegations Involving Underage Sex: A Look At The Allegations And His Response

Romanian authorities have raided the home of controversial internet figure Andrew Tate again, AP reports. The 37-year-old influencer, who is awaiting trial on multiple serious charges including human trafficking and sexual exploitation, is facing a new set of legal hurdles. The latest raid, carried out by Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, has put the spotlight on the Tate brothers, who deny any wrongdoing and allege the recent raids are part of a larger conspiracy.

New raids in Bucharest and Ilfov County

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, masked police officers raided Andrew Tate’s Bucharest home, as well as three other locations in the surrounding Ilfov County region. The Romanian Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) led the operation as part of an ongoing investigation into serious allegations, including human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, influence peddling, and money laundering. Following the raids, DIICOT announced that hearings would be held at its headquarters at a later date to further investigate these allegations.

Mateea Petrescu, a spokesperson for Andrew Tate, acknowledged the raids and confirmed that his legal team is actively involved. “While the charges in the search warrant have not yet been fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering,” Tate’s spokesperson said. Notably, there was no mention of the allegations involving minors.

Andrew Tate responds

The “minor” they are talking about is 24 years old.

But because she first followed me, years ago, when she was 17.

They say I planned to trade her.

Even though I literally did nothing to her and we’ve been friends for years.

After 9 hours of searching, an armed police officer looks at me apologetically and shrugs his shoulders.

He said, “You made someone very angry.”

I don’t have a phone anymore because it was confiscated by the police.

But when I speak out loud, my words are magically heard by someone sitting far away on a computer.

Following the raids, Tate reposted a video of his brother Tristan addressing the allegations regarding a minor, claiming that the alleged victim was actually a friend of theirs who would be willing to testify on their behalf. “The ‘minor’ they are talking about is 24. But because she first followed me years ago when she was 17. They are saying I planned to traffic her. Even though I literally did nothing to her & we have been friends for years,” he tweeted.

He later suggested that his pro-Palestine stance played a role in the raids, writing #FreeGaza on his page. “9 hours after the raid, an armed police officer looks at me apologetically and shrugs. He said ‘You made someone very angry’,” he tweeted. “I don’t have a phone because the police took it. But when I speak out loud, my words are heard by magic by someone on a computer far, far away.”

Ongoing legal battle

The raid is just the latest development in the ongoing legal battle between Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan. The pair, both former kickboxers with dual British-American citizenship, were arrested in Romania in 2022, along with two Romanian women. Prosecutors formally charged the group last year, and in April a Bucharest court ruled that their case met the necessary legal criteria for a trial, though no start date has yet been set. Despite the charges, Tate and his associates have consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Since their arrest, the Tate brothers have faced a series of legal restrictions. Initially held in police custody, they were later placed under house arrest and confined to Bucharest and Ilfov County, before the restrictions were extended to the whole of Romania. In July, a court ruling that had temporarily allowed the brothers to leave Romania on condition that they remain within the European Union was overturned, leaving them grounded while they awaited trial.
