Ranchi, August 22: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused the BJP of being a land mafia.

Hemant Soren said at a rally in Palamu on Thursday, “I was called a land mafia. I was called a land thief. I was also jailed on this charge.”

Hemant Soren had come to Palamu to hand over the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s gift, Mainiya Samman Yojana, to the women of three districts of Palamu division — Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar.

Hemant Soren said the Bharatiya Janata Party and the central government were doing everything to intimidate him.

“Many attempts have been made to topple my government. Attempts have been made to break our party. False allegations have been made against the Chief Minister of Jharkhand and I have been sent to jail. But there is delay in God’s house but no injustice and by the order of the High Court and the Supreme Court I am standing before you,” Soren said.

Hemant Soren said that elections will be held in Jharkhand in November-December.

“As the elections come closer, you all should be careful. Once the elections come closer, our opponents will start playing the Hindu-Muslim card. They did this in the Lok Sabha elections. But the people of Jharkhand and the country have brought them to such a state that they needed the help of crutches to form the government,” Soren said.

Hemant Soren said the opposition will organise a Yuva Akrosh rally.

“It is surprising. These people have stopped giving jobs. Most of the jobs were given to people in the army. Most of the youth got jobs in railways and banks. Appointments have stopped everywhere. But we are giving jobs to people in Jharkhand,” Soren said.

The Prime Minister said that in just five years his government has done a lot of work for the benefit of common people.

He claimed that in just two weeks, over 45 lakh women registered their names in the Jharkhand Chief Minister Mainya Samman Yojana. So far, applications of 43 lakh women have been approved. The Chief Minister has announced that Rs 1,000 from the first installment of Samman Rashi will be transferred to the accounts of all registered women by August 31.
