The Global Data Analytics and AI team for the Manufacturing and Quality business segments focuses on accelerating value delivery through sustainable analytics products, data as a product, data products and AI products.

What you are going to do
As a Sr. Data Operations Lead within our Global Data Analytics and AI team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability and performance of our data products and analytics platforms. You will lead the establishment of monitoring, alerting and logging standards, drive the conversion of traditional reports and dashboards into sustainable analytics products, and act as the primary point of contact between various internal and external stakeholders during incidents and outages. Your expertise in data analytics, integration and technical operations, combined with your strong collaboration and communication skills, will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

How you will succeed

Operational standards and processes:

  • Lead the development and implementation of monitoring, alerting, and logging standards for data products and analytics platforms.
  • Define and document operational processes and procedures and ensure they align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Convert live status reports and dashboards into sustainable analytics products, leveraging automation and self-service capabilities.

Incident Management and Resolution:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for incident management and coordinate response activities across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with corporate data teams, digital core teams, external partners, platform vendors, and CSQA teams to drive resolution of data-related issues and outages.
  • Ensure trouble tickets are resolved so that operational issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner, minimizing impact to business operations.

Deviation management and corrective actions:

  • Conduct deviation discussions to ensure ownership and accountability with the appropriate teams. Conduct discussions to identify root causes and define corrective actions.
  • Provide documentation of deviations and create associated corrective action plans (CAPAs). Track progress and ensure completion within agreed timeframes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement preventative measures and process improvements to mitigate future deviations and increase operational resilience.

Collaboration and communication:

  • Work closely with global development and platform teams to understand system architecture, data flows and dependencies, and ensure alignment with operational requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and provide regular updates on operational performance, incident status, and resolution efforts.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-functional teamwork.

Supplier and partner engagement:

  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to leverage external expertise and technologies and ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.

What to bring
• Experience with architecture processes (e.g. blueprints, reference architecture, governance, etc.).

  • Demonstrable experience (10+ years) in a leadership role in data operations, with a focus on monitoring, alerting, incident management and resolution.
  • Strong technical skills in data analytics, integration and platform management, with expertise in data monitoring tools, log management systems and incident response processes.
  • Experience working with global development teams and platform vendors, with a deep understanding of data architecture, infrastructure, and technology stacks.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders across teams and disciplines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges, with an emphasis on driving continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and legal requirements regarding data processing and compliance.
  • Skills in data modeling, data warehousing, data integration, data governance, and an understanding of data security, data standards, and cloud architecture principles.
  • Experience with ingestion and integration technologies such as Mulesoft, Kafka, Denodo
  • Demonstrated ability to influence IT and business strategies to achieve large-scale results.
  • Validated skills of strong learning agility and relationship building to drive change using knowledge and relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, working in flexible and diverse teams.
  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity, an outside perspective and an interest in innovation.
  • Experience in designing large-scale data models for functional, operational, and analytical environments (conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional).
    • Demonstrable knowledge of SQL/PLSQL.
    • Experience with AWS, Azure tech stack and other cloud technologies.
    • Experience with security models and development on large datasets.
    • Experience working with various relational and non-relational databases.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data domains and devise practical solutions for subsequent data exploitation through analytics.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a geographically dispersed group of business and technical colleagues.
    • Knowledge of data functions such as Data Governance, Master Data Management and Business Intelligence.
    • Experience moving on-premises solutions to the cloud and knowledge of different data ingestion patterns.

Basic requirements.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience.

Additional preferences
• Knowledge of GxP, pharmaceutical production processes and automation systems.

Experience working in regulated environments and with internal quality policies and procedures.
